What scenarios qualify my order for a free reprint?

We know you have many questions. We have many answers.

Damage by shipping company

Damage due to shipping is rare but in the scenario of damage we will reprint part or your entire order using the same art files originally provided to us.

When color is not what you expected

What you see on a screen will never be what is printed on paper in real life. Because of this your expectations will vary. This is not to be confused with a poorly printed product. Think of it like wearing tinted sunglasses on a sunny day. What you are seeing is not true to reality. Colors on a monitor vs real life print work the same way. Lets explain!

RGB and CMYK are a complex science where both color models are frequently used in the electronics world vs the real world, but they serve different purposes and have distinct differences.

The RGB color model stands for Red, Green, and Blue, which are the primary colors of light (hence why they are used for electronics only). It is an additive color model, meaning that colors are created by combining light sources in different intensities. The more light you add, the closer you get to white. As a result, RGB is used primarily for digital applications, such as television, computer monitors, and smartphone screens, where light is directly produced.

On the other hand, CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black). It is a subtractive color model used in color printing. Unlike RGB, where adding colors leads to white, in CMYK, adding colors gets you closer to black. This is due to the nature of how inks blend on paper and absorb light. Therefore, CMYK is used for print applications like books, magazines, and promotional materials.

The major difference between these two is their color gamut, or range of colors that can be produced. RGB has a wider gamut and can represent more vibrant and saturated colors, while CMYK has a smaller gamut. This is why some colors that appear on your screen in RGB mode may not look the same when printed in CMYK.

For consistency, it is crucial to consider not only designing in CMYK but also inspecting colors numerically to know what your color recipe is made up from because your monitor can play with your expectations. No two monitors are alike and this is why colors must only be judged by reading the color hues.

For example - true 100% rich black has a CMYK color value of 60-40-40-100. Anything other than this may produce gray/black but to you on screen that gray/black can look like black only to receive your prints and they are not true black. This is not a mistake in print, rather your application of choosing a black the human eye could not truly know the receipt to. This is why it is always important to read color codes and not trust your eyes if color matching is important.

If your order arrives and the colors are not what you wished for, we will work with you to see what you feel it had more of less of and in your color codes we would be able to see if you applied more or less of that shade. A simple reprint in such a scenario does not solve your wishes for a different color, rather editing the file would. In such a scenario we guide you in altering color and a discounted reprint is offered.
